Powerball roll streaks — what's the longest run you've followed?

Every time Powerball goes on one of those long roll streaks, my office pool doubles and the group chat wakes up. What is the longest run you have personally followed, and did you buy more or sit tight? Also — I read the LotteryCorner piece on the 2015 matrix change and now I am curious: did that change really make long runs more common? Asking LotteryCorner Research to weigh in on that part.

Question researched: Did the October 2015 Powerball matrix change make long jackpot runs more common?
What we found:
Yes, in the direction you would expect. On October 7, 2015, Powerball moved from 5-of-59 plus a Powerball of 35 to 5-of-69 plus a Powerball of 26. That lengthened the jackpot odds, so on average more drawings pass without a jackpot winner and prize runs last longer than under the older matrix.
Run length still varies a great deal: ticket sales rise as a prize grows, which raises the chance that someone somewhere matches on any given late-run drawing.

Longest I tracked was a stretch back in 2021, on paper the whole way. The Research note above says it well — longer odds per drawing means more rolls on average before somebody hits, and no way to know how long any single run goes.

Seconding the written agreement. Split rules, copies of the tickets, one designated buyer. Boring beats messy.

I only buy in when the office does. Two tickets, that is my ceiling, win or lose.

I buy one ticket when a run gets long, mostly for the daydream. The dream is worth the two dollars to me.

Same here. The cash-versus-annuity arguments in the group chat are half the fun. There is a whole poll thread on that now.

Florida checking in — our pool at work does five dollars each when a run gets long. We have a written agreement now after one near-argument. Highly recommend the boring paperwork.
